Imaginary number are NOT useless.

They are a fundamental half of complex numbers.

Many differential equations can only be solved in the complex domain, and still their solution perfectly makes sense.

Sometimes using imaginary numbers it is a compact way of writing the solution to the equation
(e.g., the solution to the problem of the harmonic oscillator can be written in terms of complex exponentials).

Without imaginary numbers, no equation can express a Fibonacci series via a non-recursive succession.

Besides, without imaginary numbers it is impossible to introduce Hamilton quaternions.

Many more examples are possible.

P.S. Sorry for the typos (if any), I had to write quickly.

Ironically, (or not), Bob Corker, on 1-3-08, in this thread, said: "Some exceptions would be 1 and 3 both holy numbers,..."

Also ironically (or not) I took note that, the "Abortion Ticker", here at C4C, on 3-8, settled at 11, 883,313...Biblically significant numbers, all. That inspires the following post.

Excerpted from: "Does God still speak to us in dreams?", an essay by Brother Juniper, which appeared very recently in: "AmacAdvantage, The Magazine of the Association of Mature American Citizens," (www.amac.us).

"Does God still speak to us in dreams? A recent story about Dr. Stojan Adasevic, an abortion doctor in Serbia, may answer that question."

"According to an article published in the Spanish Daily La Razon, Dr. Adasevic, now the most important pro-life leader in Serbia, had performed more than 48,000 abortions, sometimes as many as 35 in a day. For 26 years he followed the medical textbooks of the Communist regime which said abortion was simply the removal of a blob of tissue. Even after ultrasounds allowed the fetus to be seen in the 1980's he didn't change his thinking."

"Then he began to have dreams"

"Adasevic said he dreamed about a beautiful field full of children and young people from four to 24 years of age, who were playing and laughing. They ran away from him in fear. A man dressed in black and white stared at him in silence. The dreams became night-mares as they were repeated and he would wake up in a cold sweat."

"One night he asked the man in black and white who he was. "My name is Thomas Aquinas," the man in the dream said. Adasevic had never heard of the name of the Dominican saint. It was not a part of of his education in communist schools."

" "Why don't you ask me who these children are?" St. Thomas asked Adasevic in his dream. "They are the ones you killed in your abortions," the Dominican saint told him. Adasevic awoke in amazement and decided not to perform any more abortions. However that same day a cousin came to him to ask him to perform an abortion on his four-months-pregnant girlfriend. She had already undergone eight previous abortions, something not unusual in Soviet bloc countries. He agreed to do the abortion and as he removed parts of the fetus, the unborn baby's heart came out still beating. It was then Adavesic realized he had killed a human being."

"Adasevic informed the hospital he would no longer perform abortions, becoming the first doctor in Communist Yugoslavia to do so. As a result they cut his pay in half, fired his daughter from her job, and did not allow his son to enter the university. After years of suffering pressure, he was about to give up when he had another dream about St. Thomas. In that dream, the saint told him "you are my good friend, keep going." Adasevic became a prominent pro-life activist. He was able to get Yugoslav television to air the film "The Silent Scream," by Doctor Bernard Nathanson."

"Dr. Adasevic has told his story to magazines and newspapers throughout Eastern Europe. He has since returned to his Orthodox faith and has studied the writings of St. Thomas Aquinas...all because of his dreams."

"In Acts 2:17 it is written "And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions and your old men shall dream dreams."

[...] The socialism of the science movement began with the propositions of Pythagoras. His socialism was crude and unthought out; he had originally proposed the ‘harmony of the spheres’, in which he decided to apply this to the shape of the Earth as well. This is a direct socialistic tendency that puts God’s own planet at the same level as other rubbish planets; not only did he deny the Biblical Truth that the ‘planets’ are actually ornaments in the sky, he proposed that the Earth was just another ‘ornament’, in keeping with his blasphemous ‘harmony of the spheres’. He also tried to reduce everything to numbers; this has been a disaster. [...]

Why are we having a conversation about rocket jumping? It's not gonna happen. Never has, never will. You provide evidence of an event like that happening, and I'll leave your site forever. You'll never have to hear from me again.

"That’s natural selection right there. Any moron who’d actually try that in real life doesn’t deserve to contribute his or her DNA to the gene pool."

It would cause catastrophe on the people around him, genius. Rocket launchers have huge splash damage, and also have some interesting effects on the weather. I'm sure the American people would not like to see someone pretending to be Tommy Vercetti or whatnot.

"You mean where you had to try to float across the river and hope you didn’t flip? Well, it wasn’t my favorite part, but that’s part of the educational half."

Exactly. If something isn't fun (exception: atheism, the root of all evil), it probably isn't going to be harmful.

"No, why would I hate for no reason at all? That’s senseless."
Exactly.

"What you want to do isn’t always right."
What you think isn't always smart.

"Commoners don’t go through all the discipline the military does, thus they would annihilate everyone if they shot a rocket at their feet."
That's natural selection right there. Any moron who'd actually try that in real life doesn't deserve to contribute his or her DNA to the gene pool.

"You LIKED playing the river guessing game?"

"Because you can’t back up your claims otherwise"

No, why would I hate for no reason at all? That's senseless.

"Well, that’s a matter of opinion. I enjoyed Oregon Trail. My favorite part was hunting. I could snipe those birds flawlessly. But I digress…."

You LIKED playing the river guessing game? Hunting is much more fun in real life, anyways.

"Nah, I payed $50 for the Orange Box, and I’d rather play it than burn it."

What you want to do isn't always right.

"You wouldn’t have a problem with US soldiers doing it to Iraqi civilians."

The US military is guided by angels. The US police sort of is, too. Commoners don't go through all the discipline the military does, thus they would annihilate everyone if they shot a rocket at their feet.

"Know thy enemy is one thing, but you’re just making things up so you have an excuse to hate it. That bothers me."

Why would I do that?

"I think they are. Whether they’re for education or for simple enjoyment, a video game is defined as “an electronic game played by means of images on a video screen"

Cute, give me a definition from a Galapagos Tortoise-humping Darwinist.

"Any sort of interactive media that requires input from the user to advance the story is a video game."

If it's not fun, it's not a game.

"Everything from Team Fortress 2"

This game is easily a sin. Encouraging people to quietly stab others in the back and shoot rockets at their feet will have devastating effects on society. I would advise you burn every copy of that game you come across.

"to The Oregon Trail."

That's not a game, because I see it in Christian private schools. The guy who made the movie BTW is horrid at Oregon Trail.
